Lithium Thionyl Chloride cells have a very low self-discharge rate (yields a very long shelf life) and are best suited for devices that have a more constant draw. Lithium Manganese batteries have a stable drop in available voltage, which gives a more accurate reading when you are looking at "battery %" in Homeseer. (All the various size coin batteries are Lithium Manganese 3 volts.) However, they will also work in other applications such as alarm backup batteries and sensors. A camera flash is a good example use case. A single cell is always rated at 3 volts. Lithium Manganese batteries are best suited for high drain, rapid pulse loads. The Lithium Manganese Dioxide (Li‑MnO 2) version is rated at 3 volts, and the Li-Ion (rechargeable) is rated at 3.6 volts. The CR2 is also available as either 3 volt or 3.6 volt. The Lithium Manganese Dioxide (Li‑MnO 2) version is rated at 3 volts, whereas the the Lithium Thionyl Chloride (Li‑SOCl 2) version is rated at 3.6 volts. The 1/2 AA is available as either 3 volt or 3.6 volt, depending on how it's made. When you have used a CR2 in place of a 1/2 AA does your Device Page "Battery" show 100% when new?Ok, I had to look all this up to verify because I forget all the scientific names. ![]() I notice the CR2 is a 3 volt battery whereas the 1/2 AA is 3.6 volt(per spec). ![]() When you have used a CR2 in place of a 1/2 AA does your Device Page "Battery" show 100% when new? Like, really? The engineers couldn't find a way to squeeze that extra 1/5 in the housing? How does that happen? I used to have a Norelco razor that used a 4/5 AA rechargeable battery. Both Energizer and Duracell make the CR2's in lithium versions. I have replaced the 1/2 AA with a CR2 in my sensors and they work just fine. ![]() The CR2 battery (much more common) is nearly identical to it, only slightly larger (maybe 1mm bigger and 2mm longer) and has the same voltage. None of the major brand battery manufacturers make the battery now (or private label it) that I'm aware of. I think it's the Homeseer water sensor that comes with 1/2 AA batteries, best I remember? The 1/2 AA is an old school battery that's been around for years.
